Maple & Walnut Caldron Bowl

Today's project is a simple bowl made from a piece of walnut and maple. It kind of reminds me of a caldron hence the name.

I took a scrap piece of maple and glued it to a walnut bowl blank. I took it over to the bandsaw and knocked off the corners to make it easier to turn round. You can see from the video that I had a design change midway through the turning. I do like the shape that it ended up being. It had a few cracks, but I was able to fix them using the Starbond Medium Thick CA glue and sawdust. Before applying the glue, I applied a coat of Mylands Sanding Sealer to prevent the CA glue from staining the wood. It worked like a charm! I applied a coat of Ack's Polishing Paste to protect it and give it a nice finish.

I hope you enjoyed this video and please let me know if you have any project that you'd like to see me do.

Please leave a comment if there are any questions you have or if you feel like I missed explaining a step.

Psalm 119:114 (NLT)

You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.
