Mediterranean Bowl
This piece of olive wood came from a neighbor's yard. It was dry when he gave it to me, but wasn't sealed so it contained a lot of significant cracks. It's been sitting on my self for over a year. I felt it was time to do something with it so I broke out the electric chainsaw and cut that baby in half. Wow was I surprised to see how beautiful the grain was inside.
With all of the cracks and how uneven the outside of the log was, I needed some resin to finish the bowl. I went with Alumilite Clear Slow Set and some sapphire blue pigment powder. I thought the blue with the wood grain would go great together. You know what, it totally did!
My wife named it "The Mediterranean Bowl" due to it looking like and ocean and land. Plus most olives come from Europe so it all made sense. I wasn't able to film my ending in the shop due to a swarm of bees looking for a new home. Thankfully, they only stayed a couple of days and moved on.

Matthew 20:18-19 (NIV)
“We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!”
