Rolled Rim Spalted Maple Bowl

Today's woodturning project is a beautifully spalted maple bowl. The rolled rim make a big impact on the look and feel of this bowl....to me at least. Spalted wood is very challenging and it keeps putting my newly acquired turning skills to the test. This was a very fun bowl to turn and I got to practice using a bowl gouge. Wow....what a difference it is using a bowl gouge to hollow out the bowl versus using a carbide scraper. I definitely need to practice those push and pull cuts on the gouge.
