Acorn Caps in Resin Bowl

Today's project comes courtesy of a few acorn caps I picked up in Conneticut while on a business trip. I don't know about you, but I'm always on the look out for things that I can put in resin and make something with. I was walking to lunch recently on a business trip and I saw all of these acorn caps on the ground. So I went in the break room and grabbed a few coffee cups and filled them up.

Once I got the acorn caps home, I needed to dry them out to prevent any moisture from interfering with the resin. I have personal experience with this and trust me, you don't want to waste the resin! I put them in a toaster oven at 200F for a couple of hours. I then immediately put them in a ziploc bag until I was ready to cast them in resin. The casting came out very nicely. I turned the resin and the walls are thin enough that the light comes through and you can see all of the different acorn caps in there.

Please leave a comment if there are any questions you have or if you feel like I missed explaining a step.
