Bubinga Salt Cellar

For today's project, I wanted to try making a salt cellar. I recently made a lidded box and that turned out pretty good. A salt cellar is basically a lidded box with a swivel lid. I had a couple of pieces of bubinga that I got off the cutoff bin at a local wood store. I glued them together with the grain going in the opposite direction. A happy accident occurred. The grain formed a chevron pattern on one side and what looks like an eye on the other side. I love the grain of bubinga and the color is so rich. It looks really nice in my kitchen.
