Chinese Inspired Lidded Box

Do you ever have a picture in your mind that you try and create? That's what today's project is all about. I had this picture of a lidded box with a Chinese inspiration. In Chinese architecture, the buildings have a sloping rooftop with layers and the top comes to a point. That is what I envisioned for this project. I had a lot of fun turning this one. If I were to do it again, I would have used a taller piece of wood where I would have enough material to have a larger oval base. The top would also be taller so I could capture the up-sloping top. The spalting and voids really help make this an interesting piece to look at.
