Acacia Fruit Bowl

For this bowl I had a leftover piece of locally sourced Acacia that I thought would make a nice bowl of some sort. It was a decent diameter, but it was a little thin. I immediately thought that it would make a nice fruit bowl since they don’t need to be too deep.

Acacia can be easily found here in Arizona and it is a native of Africa. I’m always on the look out after storms roll through during the summer as that’s when the crews go about cleaning up downed limbs and trees. They usually leave the logs for people to take. I’ve also received a few logs from neighbors who take them out of their yards. Free wood is the best wood in my opinion!

The final dimensions for the bowl was a diameter of 9.75” x 2.25” deep.

Please leave a comment if you have any questions that I can answer about this project.
